The Database Systems Laboratory is part of Computer Science at the University of Massachusetts. (You may also be interested in our sibling labs Real-Time Systems and Real-Time Databases.)
We are interested in supporting novel, advanced applications that expand the limits of traditional databases, especially transaction systems. Our work aims to enhance performance and functionality of applications, such as workflows and information retrieval, that require or can benefit from transactional support. To this end, we exploit semantic information about the objects, operations, transaction model, and the application.
